Cher's virtual wardrobe? There's an app for that

Cher's virtual wardrobe from Clueless is now a reality

You'll have to supply your own Calvin Klein slip dress, though

Rejoice, cake boys, style setters and virgins who can't drive! It's been almost 20 years since Clueless hit the big screen, but Cher Horowitz's computerised wardrobe has finally become a reality. Kind of.

London tech company Metail has launched a bespoke digital fitting room inspired by Cher's wardrobe of dreams (Alaïa dress, sadly, not included). Users can enter their height, weight and bra size to create their own virtual 3D model called a MeModel, which can then be used to try on clothes. You can then share your virtual outfit with friends over social media.

Metail isn't the first company to create a virtual wardrobe app, although it's probably the first company to explicitly reference the iconic teen film in its launch campaign. It's even encouraging new users to share their Clueless-inspired outfits with the hashtag #ShareYourCher, and one lucky winner will win a £500 shopping voucher.

It's not a perfect app, by any means – the options for skin colour and hair are sadly limited to light-skinned blonde, light-skinned brunette and slightly-tanned brunette, which means Cher's BFF Dionne might find it difficult to create her own virtual lookalike.

But for any Betty or Baldwin looking to create their own virtual wardrobe, this is about as good as you're going to get. Just remember Cher's crucial fashion tips: "Sometimes you have to show a little skin. This reminds boys of being naked, and then they think of sex."
