If we know one thing about fashion by now, it’s that what Mrs P says, goes – whether it’s iconic runway moments, fashion trends, or this season’s coolest models.
For instance, take Miu Miu’s perfectly dishevelled, greasy-haired SS24 show which took over TikTok for its boxy swim trunks, nerdy eyeglasses, scrunched-up shirting, and colourful toe plasters mashed with coquettish skirts, ribbon-tied pants, and sparkling beaded slips and modelled by Gigi Hadid, Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeney, and everyone’s favourite Australian pop star Troye Sivan. Now – three months later – it seems Miuccia has promoted Troye from Miu Miu boy to full-fledged Prada muse for its intimate SS24 campaign.
Brought to life by creative director Ferdinando Verderi and photographer Willy Vanderperre, the campaign – shot in the style of a stripped-back portrait series – captures the musician posing for the camera in a simple, khaki workwear jacket with a brown velvet collar pulled from the label’s SS24 menswear collection. Joining alongside is Triangle of Sadness’s Harris Dickinson, lensed in floral shirting and a cargo cross-body bag, and Waves actor Kelvin Harrison Jr., who wears a sheer, studded cardigan and tailored trousers.
Together – alongside a series of womenswear portraits with each model from the label’s slime-oozing runway back in September – each image is brought together to represent fashion’s role in our everyday lives, from helping us express our individuality to forming communities and a sense of belonging for its wearers. “Prada reminds us that the profession of fashion is a collective one,” the brand explained in a press release for the campaign.
As for Sivan, the brand hopes to capture the pop star’s “personal abilities”, which as of late have also included a modelling gig with YSL Beauty, slipping into drag for his “One of Your Girls” music video, and launching his brand new homeware and fragrance brand Tsu Lange Yor – all while dropping Something To Give Each Other, his first record in five years which Dazed deemed one of 2023’s best albums.
